Off to the airport. Erich and Sally have the kids for a whole week. Good luck with that (Thanks)
It's 5:00 somewhere, right?

Waiting for the bus to take us to the hotel
Hour long bus ride to the Hyatt. Whales were leaping out in the ocean. Evidently, we arrived right in the peak of whale season. Of course you can't get a good shot of one. Didn't have to look too long before you saw one any time of day the entire trip.
View from the lobby of the hotel. Cherie swears this is directly off the camera. No photoshop wizardry whatsoever.
View straight out of our room. That's Lanai island off in the distance to the west.
View to the North from our room
The evening reception the first night. This after the initial lunch reception right off of the bus. There was no shortage of free-flowing liquor the entire trip.
Sunset at the evening reception
Day 2: The view from breakfast. No windows, just huge 15' tall shutters across the front of the restaurant that open up to the hotel's lagoon.
A morning walk around the hotel's grounds: A rope bridge over the pool
The kiddie pool
Surprisingly, there's not much depth to the beach. This is the widest spot at about 20' to the water. Typical was barely 10'...just enough to walk on without getting wet.
It was pretty windy the entire trip. But, unless your stuff was in the process of blowing away, you really didn't notice it.
a blurry pic of the hotel lobby
Penguins! in the hotel lobby, no less.
Pineapples growing in the lobby
For lack of a better word, a swan garden. There were about 6 or so swans (one black one), some ducks, and some flamingos walking around in a garden 9 stories down below our hotel room.

Day 3 or so: Luau night
a Blue Hawaiian
The roast beast
a sunset walk on the beach
A woman out for a surf with her dog
A little out of order I think. Too lazy to rearrange the pictures. The whale-watching/snorkeling trip was a day BEFORE the Luau. Anyhow, this is the group walk from the hotel to the boat launch. Our group had 3 boats.
